Charles Blevins (1927-2006)

Charles Blevins, 79, of Grayson, went to be with the Lord on Saturday evening, Sept. 9, 2006, in King’s Daughters Medical Center.

He was born May 4, 1927, in Beetle, Ky., a son of the late Monroe and Ella Graham Blevins.

He was a retired carpenter from Union Local 472 in Ashland and a former operator of Grayson Sunoco.

Charles was a member and deacon of Upper Bruin Enterprise Baptist Church for 24 years. He was a Korean War veteran in the Army 
where he was a recipient of the Purple Heart for combat duty. He proudly served his country for two years.

He was preceded in death by three sisters, Ollie Hylton, Nancy Porter and Elsie Keeney; and six brothers, Emmitt Blevins, Claude Blevins, Hubert Blevins, 
Estill Blevins, Walter Blevins and Howard Blevins.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Arbutus Kitchen Blevins of Grayson; two daughters, Debra Shearer and Pam Wilson, both of Grayson; 
one son, Darren Blevins of Grayson; four grandchildren, Jeremiah Shearer, Shea Fraley, Dereck Blevins and Larissa Blevins, all of Grayson; 
three great-grandchildren whom he loved dearly; one sister, Hazel Wright of Sandy Hook; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Malone Funeral Home in Grayson by ministers Russell Griffith, Enis Lewis Jr. 
and Henry Sturgill Jr. Burial will be in East Carter County Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
