Betty Bailey Sloan - 1933-2006 Betty Bailey Sloan, age 72, of Louisa, Ky., formerly of Grahn, Ky., passed away Friday morning, Oct. 6, 2006, in Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Mrs. Sloan was born Nov. 29, 1933, in Carter County, Ky., a daughter of the late Rant and Dora Knipp Bailey. Betty was retired from Nationwide Insurance as an insurance agent. She was of the Baptist faith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband, John Schlaechter and brother-in-law, George Johnson. She is survived by her husband of eight years, James D. Sloan; four sons and a daughter-in-law, John Schlaechter, Don Schlaechter, and Randy Adkins, all of Columbus, Ohio, and Charles and Anne Sloan of Louisa; one daughter and son-in-law, Edna Sue and Russell Flowers of Williamstown, W.Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Betty Bailey of Hitchins, Ky. and twin brother, Bobby and Carol Bailey of Westerville, Ohio; five sisters and brothers-in-law, Vivian and Ellis Cordle of Louisa, Genetta and Bill Middleton of Asheville, Ohio, Inetta Johnson of Olive Hill, Carol and Dave King of Baltimore, Ohio, and Helen and Kenneth Walker of Grayson; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at the Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill with Brother Kenneth Walker and Brother Eddie Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Bailey Cemetery in Grahn. Friends may call after 6 tonight and anytime before the service Sunday at the funeral home. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
