West Main Street prior to Civil War

Pre-Civil War view of West Main Street.  On the left is the old Scottville Hotel which burned in the Civil War.  It was replaced with a wooden structure with lots of gingerbread and porches.    A livery stable is just past there (where later was the Chevrolet Garage - now Garrett and Mandrell).   Fannie and Winnie Brown's home is in the distance on the right, now location of the City-County Building.
