Old Hotel - prior to the Jacksonian

The Old Scottsville Hotel and Contents were destroyed by fire.  The origin of the fire is not known, the old kitchen was falling in when the fire was discovered.  Members of the family of O. V. Trammel, proprietor, and the guests had narrow escapes for their lives.  Owing to the stillness of the morning (4:30 am) no other buildings were destroyed, however the court house was threatened for a time.  The destroyed building had been hostelry since the old stage coach days before the Civil War, and had the destiction of having been the only building of its character remaining to land mark those antebellum days.
