Bill of Sale

Henry Talbott to Thomas Baker sold a Negro girl named Let

This day I have bargained and sold to Thomas Baker a negro girl named Let about seventeen  years old for the just sum of two hundred and twenty dollars for the sum I warrant the said negro to said Baker his heirs forever.
Now the true intent and meaning of the above Bill of sale is to secure to the said ???? Martin Baker and myself became the executors for Bowles to the said Allen and  was brought in the Bourbon Circuit Court and judgement was obtained against the said Bowles, Baker and myself and as execution being from the clerks office on against the said Bowles, Martin, Baker and Talbot and the said Martin Baker and mysleft got Thomas Baker to join in with us in a replevy bond for the sum of about four hundred dollars besides the interest and costs- now be it known that the above Bill of sale given to secure the said Thomas Baker if the said ??? should fail paying his part which is the half then on that failure the said Thomas Baker is to sell the girl and should she sell for more than the one half of the note bond then the said Baker is to pay the over plus the said Hugh Talbot but she not sell for the amount of one half of the replvy bond the said Talbot is to ??? up - Given under my hand and seal this tenth day of
June eighteen hundred and twenty four.
