Mary Florence Allen lived near Little Rock and was a representative of the prosperous African American middle class in Bourbon Co between the two world wars.

Samuel Buckner excelled in public speaking and was trained to preach and teach other slaves before the Civil War.  He established Little Rock Christian Church in 1861.  His grandson E. B. Towles was also a minister at Little Rock as well as the principal at Western High School.

Brother Stafford Campbell was the pastor of the Seventh Street Christian Church in Paris from 1842-1899.

Charles M. Mason successful grocer owned a successful grocery store near the post office on Fifth St in Millersburg KY in 1905.
