The following is taken from Cemeteries in Sumner County, Kansas by Harvey and Ruth Swan (1983).
"Known burial site, Avon Twnsp, R1E, T32, sec 34, SE corner of SE 1/4. Location from Dalton: 3S, 1W, 3/4S.
In the late 1880's, three small children died of Typhoid Fever. Anyone dying of a dreaded disease at that time was usually not permitted to be buried in an established cemetery.
These graves are among some trees in low land near Slate Creek."
Has anyone seen these graves before? Are there any sort of markers? Does anybody know the names of these children? Please contact the SCHGS with any information.
