We work (whoever can) at the museums each month on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday. We are determined to work in the afternoons from 1-3 p.m. through April and back to mornings 8:30-10:30 from May through October. Our monthly meetings are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at the new museum. We elected to start the meetings at 7 p.m. from November through April and at 7:30 p.m. in the months of May through October. We would encourage anyone who can to join us and participate when possible.
If your membership dues have not been paid for the fiscal year November 1, 2006, through October 31, 2007, they are due. Dues have not gone up with the "cost of living" and are still $5.00 for single members and $50.00 each for lifetime memberships.
PCHS is planning for the Parker Rural High School Alumni banquet which is April 28 at 6 p.m. The MUSEUMS will be open from 9:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. to visitors. Please come visit and reminisce with family and friends. There are many items that "spark' recollections of days past. The elementary school will open at 4 p.m. preceding the banquet.
The MUSEUMS may also be opened by special request by contacting John Riggs, President (913-898-2337), or Marilyn Rhoades, Treasurer (913-898-6891).
Last year to replenish our treasury, we held a soup supper in March and had jars on the tables at the banquet for donations. This year we plan to have a NO BAKE bake sale (at the Elementary School before and after the banquet). If we would have called and asked you to make a cake, pie, cookies, bread, cinnamon rolls, brownies, candy, or other gooey, delicious item, we ask that you donate an amount that you feel covers the cost of that donation. If you would have bought any or all of those items, we ask that you donate the amount you might have spent. We are trying not to burden our volunteers and help maintain healthy cholesterol levels and weights. We want to keep you around another year! We also have a Memorial Plaque which will be displayed and you may designate a memorial donation. You may mail your donations to our PO Box 173 if you will not be attending the banquet.
Please continue to advise us of any change of address that occurs between newsletters. Getting corrected addresses from the post office is expensive and delays receipt of the mail. Continue to notify Marilyn (Hampton) Rhoades at 913-898-6891 or Janice (Cady) Stahl at 913-898-6662 of address corrections and names and dates of deceased alumni and members.
The Alumni Association is again accepting applications for scholarships. Eligibility is open to anyone who is related to a PRHS graduate and is a high school senior or returning college student. Applications may be obtained from Janice (Cady) Stahl and are due to be submitted by April 1.
Following is a list of deceased PRHS Alumni since the Spring Newsletter of 2006. Each one is missed by families, friends, classmates, and fellow alumni. If you are aware of anyone we have missed, please let us know.
