2005 - Spring Newsletter - 2005

How many of you realize that PCHS is 25 years old? Guess what? It's time for our spring newsletter. Where does the time go?

On November 16, 2004, our Annual Meeting of the Board of Directors was held at the New Museum, 207 W. Main, Parker, Kansas. Board of Directors members are Helen Haverfield, Society Vice Pres., Osee Riggs, Society Recorder, Shiriey Osborn, Society Reporter, Wayne Osborn, Eugene Prentice. Janice Stahl, Kenneth Prentice, plus Society officers John Riggs, President, Velda Lemon, Secretary, and Cheryl Enwin, Treasurer. President Riggs appointed the Building Committee. Those members are John Riggs, Glenn Kerr, Eugene Prentice, Shirley Orborn, and Cheryl Erwin.

We work (whoever can) at the Museums on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday mornings from 8:30 to whenever. A lot of items have been sorted and some are now on display.

If membership dues have not been paid for the fiscal year November 1, 2004, through October 31, 2005, they are due. Dues are $5.00 for single members and $50.00 for a lifetime membership.

It will soon be time to start planning for the Parker Rural High School Alumni banquet and reunions. The museums will be open on Saturday, May 21, 9:30 am.- 4.00 pm. Come see all the buildings.

The PARKER ALUMNI ASSOCIATION is once again offering two scholarships of $300.00 each, plus an additional $300.00 scholarship is available for a student entering an agricultural field. Applicants may be freshmen or returning college students. Following are the "Guidelines for Parker Rural High School Scholarships" to be completed by the applicant and returned by May 1 to:

A special "thank you" goes to Juanita Holderman, Wayne Burk, Jeff Johnson, Colleen Stahl and all others who helped identify students' school pictures (for a New Museum scrap book).

Shirley Quisenberry Osborn, Class of '55, would like to remind all nurse graduates from PRHS that she would like more nurse pictures for the album. She needs a picture- preferaby in uniform, the date of graduation, and what school of nursing attended. To those who have already sent pictures, your pictures have been placed in the album. Thank you.

Your cooperation in advising us of a change of address would be greatly appreciated because every newsletter that returns costs us at least $.70 to get a corrected address. It has been a while since that has been mentioned and we really need your help.

The number of deceased PRHS Alumni since the Spring Newsletter of 2004 remains about the same. Each and every alumnus will be missed, especially by classmates and alumni members. If you are aware of anyone not listed, please contact Cheryl Erwin @ 913-898-6891 or Janice Stahl @ 913-898-6662.
