Membership is open to women and young ladies, who have attained the age of ten years, that have either a direct related ancestor or a blood related brother of an honorably discharged Union soldier, sailor, marine or army nurse who served during the Civil War, 1861 to 1865.
The LGAR is the oldest women's lineage organization in the US. It was formed in 1881 as the Loyal Ladies League. The name was changed in 1886 to the Ladies of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Our Purpose
We help preserve the memory of the Union soldier and commemorate Memorial Day as originally set aside by the Grand Army of the Republic to honor Union veterans.
We preserve Union artifacts, monuments, burial locations and history.
We promote patriotism and  honor ALL American veterans of all wars.
