On January 11, 1881, school district 33 was formed.  The school was located on Section 28, Township 4, Range 27.  The school was named Jackson, being named after on of the patrons of the district.

The first school was a sod house and in 1882 a log school house was built.  The school being located close to the Prairie Dog Creek plenty of timber was available.  In 1890 a new one room frame building was built.  Athletics started about 1890 and baseball was the main event.
