Alfred W. Yarrow, 91, died Saturday, and his wife Elizabeth, 87, died Sunday, as a result of a two-car collision on K-82 near Wakefield. They farmed in the Wakefield area for many years. They are survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Hanna of Manhattan and Mrs. Irvin Smith, of Omaha; two sons, Wayne and Warren, both of Wakefield; Mr. Yarrow's brothers, Frank and Charles, both of Clay Center; Mrs. Yarrow's brothers, Owen Jevons of Marsing, Idaho, Fred Jevons of Wakefield and Gurner Jevons of Boulder, Colo.; her two sisters, Mrs. Arthur Cowell of Santa Monica, Calif. and Myra Jevons, Los Angeles. Hazel Girtrude Yarrow, 76, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in Wakefield; born Feb. 13, 1931 in Clay County, the daughter of Glenn and Evelyn (Chapman) Avery; first married Arnold Todd; he preceded her in death in 1976; married Donald Yarrow on March 28, 1986; he preceded her in 1994; also preceded by one brother, Wayne Avery; survived by two sons, Russell Todd of Clay Center and Randy Todd of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Mashalla and husband Greg Allen of Centralia; one step-daughter, Charlie Broughton of Topeka; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and three step-great-grandchildren; burial in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.

Yarrow, 86, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2003, at Clay Center; born Jan. 23, 1917, at Clay County, the daughter of John Luther and Daisy (Keys) Rider; married Warren Yarrow on April 15, 1938, at Industry; preceded in death by one son, Douglas and one brother; survivors include her husband, Warren Yarrow of the home; one daughter, Janet and husband Gayle Carswell, Ellsworth; one son, Keith and wife Louise Yarrow, Wakefield; two brothers, Raymond Rider, Wakefield, and Richard Rider, Abilene; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two step great grandchildren; burial in Mizpah Cemetery.

Clay Center--Peter W. Yarrow, 92, long a resident of Wakefield, died at his home there. He was born in England Jan. 20, 1859, and came to the United States when he was 11 years old. Surviving are the widow, a son, a daughter and three grandchildren. Funeral was in the Mercer chapel at Wakefield, the Rev. John Baker officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery at Wakefield. Warren "Boots" Yarrow, 90, died Saturday, April 15, 2006, in Wakefield; born Sept. 8, 1915, in Clay County, the son of Alfred W. and Sarah Elizabeth (Jevon) Yarrow; married Helen Rider April 15, 1938; she preceded him in death Nov. 5, 2003; also preceded in death by a son, Douglas Yarrow, one brother, one sister and one grandson; survivors include one son, Keith Yarrow and wife Louise of Wakefield; one daughter, Janet Carswell and husband Gayle of Ellsworth; one sister, Hazel Smith of Omaha, Neb.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; burial in Mizpah Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Yeany, 66, Oak Hill, died Thursday morning in a Salina hospital. She was born Feb. 2, 1891, in Deepwater, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie, in October of 1955. She is survived by two brothers, Matthew Malcolm of Yucaipa, Calif., and Will Malcolm of Topeka. Burial will be Saturday at the Rose Meron cemetery. James A. Young, 89, died Friday, June 20, 2008, at Abilene; born Aug. 23, 1918, in the Vine Creek community, the son of James Alexander and Louella Edith (Pero) Young; married Joan Ditsler; survived by his wife, Joan Young of Abilene; one son, Jamie Young of Abilene; one daughter, Evelyn Johnson of Abilene; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; burial in the Rose Meron Cemetery.

Walter Byron Zeferjahn, 90, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, at his residence in Clay Center; born Nov. 24, 1916, in Clay County, the son of Frederick and Eva (Walker) Zeferjahn; married Millie Reed on Oct. 12, 1946; she preceded him in death on June 9, 1989; also preceded in death by one brother, one sister and one granddaughter; survived by two stepsons, Roy Taylor of Clay Center and Henry Taylor and wife Patricia of Grand Junction, Colo.; six grandchildren; ten great- grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren; burial in Greenwood Cemetery

Zollinger, 84, died Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, at her home in Wichita; born Sept. 25, 1921, at Clay Center, the daughter of Ellsworth and Susie Tiers; married Joe Zollinger June 16, 1951, at Junction City; survivors include her husband, Joe Zollinger; two sons, Dr. Joe Zollinger II of Wichita and Charles Zollinger of Wagoner, Okla.; one sister, Shirley Mackender of Clay Center; one step-brother, Duane Kearn of Chubbock, Idaho; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandson; no burial information.
