OBITUARY--The Belleville Telescope, September 11, 1879
Died. At Ida, September 6th, of dropsy. Frederick Royse, Aged 65 years and
five months.
Mr. Royse was born in Washington County, Indiana, moved from there to
Illinois, from Illinois to Iowa, and from Iowa to this township, where he
has resided for something over 9 years, making him one of the oldest
settlers in Rose Creek township, respected and beloved by all who knew him.
The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. A. N. See. A large and
sympathizing procession followed him to his last resting place.

Susanah Royse
OBITUARY--The Belleville Telescope, Belleville, KS,
Friday, August 24, 1899
Mrs. Susanah Royse was born in Wayne County, Ind., in the year 1813,
and died at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Dixon, August 10th, 1899,
aged 86 years.
She was married to Frederick Royse some time in the forties, and came
to Republic County in 1870, locating in Rose Creek township, where they
resided until Mr. Royse's death in 1878. Since then she had been making her
home with her children until about six years ago when she took up her place
of abode with Mr. and Mrs. Dixon, where she resided until the time of her
death.
Grandma Royse is known by all the old settlers of this county. She
leaves four children and numerous friends to mourn her loss. The children
are McK. and James, who are at present located in Washington Territory,
William at Howard, Kans., and Mrs. Jane Sellers in western Colorado. The
funeral services were held Saturday, August 12th, in the Ida M. E. Church,
of which she was a constant worker. The services were conducted by the Rev.
Pitcher, of Belleville. After the services the remains were followed to
their last resting place in the Ida cemetery by the many sorrowing friends.
All who were acquainted with Grandma will all agree that a finer lady never
lived; but now she has gone to rest, away from all sorrow and cares and has
gained a heavenly home for which she has been a life long worker. H. H.

Old-Time Doctor Passes in Belleville
Dr. J. H. Dittemore died November 20 at the Belleville hospital. He had practiced medicine here for several years before his retirement.
Dr. Dittemore was 82 years old and was born at Troy, Kan., where he spent his early years on the farm with his parents and attended public schools. He graduated with honors from the Rush Medical school in 1898. He practice(sic) medicine in Axtell, Kan., and Cuba before coming to Belleville.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret; six children, Robert of North Little Rock, Ark, Ralph of St.Joseph, Mo., Louis of Bartlesville, Okla., Paul of Glenbrook, Conn., Mary of Kansas City, Mo., and Helen of Midwest City Okla.
Funeral services were held Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Tibbetts Brothers Chapel. The Reverend Joe Boyd officiated and interment was in the Belleville cemetery.*

Dr. J. H. Dittemore
James Henry Dittemore, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas(sic) Dittemore, was born at Troy, Kan., on September 18, 1874, and departed this life, November 20, 1956, at Belleville, Kan., at the age of 82 years, two months, and 2 days.
He spent his early years on the farm with his parents and attended the public school in Troy. Upon completion of his public school education he entered Rush Medical School in Chicago and graduated with honors in 1898. Dr. Dittemore began his practice of medicine in Axtell, Kan., but soon moved to Cuba, Kan., establishing his practice there in 1905. Later he moved to Belleville, where he practiced medicine for several years, and where he spent his last years in retirement.
He was married in February , 1901 to Margaret Kent , who survives him. To this union were born six children all of whom survive: Robert of North Little Rock, Ark., Ralps(sic) of St. Joseph, Mo., Louis of Bartlesville, Okla., Paul of Glennbrokk, Conn., Mary of Kansas City, Mo., and Helen of Midwest City, Okla. There are eleven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Dr. Dittemore served long and well in his practice of medicine and his unselfish devotion to his profession has won him many admirers.

Dr. J. H. Dittemore, 82, an honorary member of the Republic County Medical Society, died at the Belleville Hospital on November 20. He had practiced in Kansas since 1901(sic), having graduated from Rush Medical College, Chicago, in 1899. His first office was at Axtell, then at Cuba, and later at Belleville. He had been retired in recent years.
