WEST FORK - Wilma Yates, 80, of West Fork died Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2011, at Fayetteville.
She was born July 12, 1931, at Farmington, the daughter of Ralph and Elma Burns Hopper. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Yates; and a son, Doug Smith.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandy Knickerbocker of Farmington, Delores Gross of Bella Vista, Diane Freet of Hot Springs and Gail Simms of Oklahoma; three sons, Rufus Junior Smith of California, Allen Smith of West Fork and Ronnie Yates of Fayetteville; two sisters, Peggy Humphrey of California and Patsy Workman of California; two brothers, Glenn Wirick of California and Gene Hopper of Waldron, Ark.; and numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Graveside service will be held 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, at Campbell Cemetery at West Fork, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
There will be no visitation.

This child born in 1938 was omitted from the 1940 census.
Gene Hopper of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Monday, November 1, 2016 in Ozark, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Gene was born November 4, 1938 in Fresno, California to Ralph Hopper and Elma (Burns) Hopper. Gene was 77 years, 11 months and 28 days old.
Gene enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a devoted family man. He loved his family and they were his priority. He was committed to working hard to provide for their needs. He was even known to go to work sick. It has been said that he enjoyed his work to the point of being a workaholic. Gene finally did retire from Tyson Foods in 2001 where he worked in the Refrigeration Maintenance Dept. He spent more time with his wife and family making everlasting memories.
Gene leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 55 years, three children, ten grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister, many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and loved ones.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Elma Hopper and nine siblings.
Gene's life celebration will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, November 4, 2016 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas. Interment will follow in the Lamb Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Gene's visitation will be Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where Gene's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

Emel BURNS and Ralph Gordon HOPPER were married about 1922. Ralph Gordon HOPPER was born on 18 February 1905 in Arkansas. He died on 17 August 1966 at the age of 61 in Fresno, Fresno County, California.
