Charles Allen Lucas CHARLESTON - Charles Allen Lucas, MD, 61 of Charleston, SC passed away on October 20, 2013 surrounded by his family. Born March 17, 1952 he is survived by his beloved sons, Christopher Allen Lucas and Andrew Scott Lucas (Carson), one granddaughter, Fay Everette Lucas, and loving wife of 39 years, Susan Small Lucas, all of Charleston, SC, brother James Harold Lucas (Kathy) of Henderson, NV, sisters Carolyn Lucas Cook (Jim) of Columbia, SC, and Barbara Lucas Conrad (Doug) of Raleigh, NC, as well as a large family of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles Lucas and Edith Gabbard Lucas of Charleston, SC, and his brother William Glenn Lucas of McKinney, TX. Allen graduated in 1970 from St. Andrews High School where he was awarded the State 4A player of the year in football in 1969. He graduated in 1974 at The Citadel. He graduated from M.U.S.C. School of Medicine in 1978. He completed his Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Greenville (SC) Hospital in 1982. In 1982 he began his private practice as a board certified OB/GYN opening Trident OB/GYN. He retired in 2005 having delivered thousands of babies. Upon retirement he began developing real estate. Allen was a devoted father who loved coaching his sons sports teams and chronicling their achievements through photographs and home movies. He had a passion for electronics, sports, music, film, reading, travel, and spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed for his great sense of humor and caring nature which touched the lives of everyone he knew. Bye "Joey" - you will be missed! A private service will be held Sunday October 27, 2013. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Red Cross.
