102. Nancy GABBARD was born on 15 June 1822 in Clay County, Kentucky.^51,52 She died on 28 February 1892 at the age of 69 in Jackson County, Kentucky.³⁶

Nancy married John Lakes and her younger sister, Susan, married Thomas Lakes. Edward Gabbard, father of the bride gave permission for both, although Nancy was of age. The bonds are dated 28 Feb 1848; the Minister's return, 5 Mar 1848.

Age is 39 in 1860 Census, moving the year of her birth back to 1821.

Nancy GABBARD and John "Jack" LAKES were married on 5 March 1848 in Madison County, Kentucky.^33,36 John "Jack" LAKES^51,52, son of John LAKES and Mary ABRAMS, was born on 22 May 1822 in Madison County, Kentucky.⁵¹ He died on 25 October 1875 at the age of 53 in Jackson County, Kentucky.

1850 Census: Living between John and Thomas Lakes (married to Nancy & Susan Gabbard respectively] is John Lakes, age 60 - probably their father. Living with him is Susan, age 30, Isalinda age 9, Miranda age 7, Mary age 6, Joel age 3, and Betsey 10/12. Perhaps he has a young second family or a daughter back home living with him.

281	vii.	America LAKES was born in 1859 in Kentucky.⁵² Age given as 6/12 in 1860 Census. Kentucky Death Certificate #21816 America Cobb died 11 Aug 1914 in Richmond, Madison Co, KY of uremic ?isms. She was widowed, born 1862 , age 52 (not quite right!). She was dead when the doctor saw her. Her father was John Lakes; her mother Nancy Gabbard - both born in Kentucky. Pearl Wells of Richmond was the informant. buried Richmond Cemetery on Aug 12th.
