BAKER DNA

Something new and exciting is taking place in the world of Genealogy, the DNA Test.

I have long believed that my Baker line descends from John and Mary (Wason) Baker, who went to Campbell County, Kentucky from Pennsylvania about 1795. I had circumstantial evidence, but not absolute proof. I took the Baker DNA Test.

One  of the Bakers, Samuel, son of John and Mary, never left the area. William Kendall (Bill) Baker, of Campbell County, is from that line and can easily prove that he is descended from John and Mary. He grew up just down the road from their farm. He took the DNA test and we were a perfect match. The match proves that we have a common Baker ancestor. This also proves that John Jr. was a son of John and Mary, and that my William Baker was a son of John Jr.

I would like to see a male member of EVERY Baker line take the DNA Test. That's the only real way to sort them out. The Y Chromosone is passed down only from father to son, so a male named Baker must take the test. If you match someone, then you have a common Baker ancestor.

Many Bakers have proven their research correct or have gotten past their "Brick Walls" with their Test results. Some have been completely surprised to find that they were descended from a different Baker line than they had thought. They had taken a wrong turn somewhere in their research.
