Seidenstricker
The Seidenstricker Family primarily of York County, PA
My husband's immigrant Seidenstricker ancestor was Johan Heinrich Seidenstricker. He was born/baptised on August 16, 1741 at Bad Durkheim in what is now part of Germany. His birth is recorded in the records of the Lutheran church. He arrived in America prior to the Revolutionary War and settled in Caernarvon township in what is now Lancaster county. He and his wife Margaretha Barabara had nine known children. Many of them chose to go by the anglicized version of Seidenstricker, which is Silknitter. Their son, Daniel, however, chose to retain the German spelling and he and his descendants continued to use Seidenstricker.
Daniel Seidenstricker, son of Johan Heinrich and Margaretha Barabara, was born in 1780. About 1810 he married Mary Magdalena Straley, daughter of Stephen and Barabara. Daniel and Mary Magdalena resided in York county. Among their children was a son Philip, born 1812. Philip married Sarah Seifert. Among their children was a son Joseph. He married Eliza Ann Chronister in 1871. They had two son, one of whom was Calvin. Calvin married Cora C. Eyster, daughter of Edward G. Eyster and Rebecca Allison. Their son Ellis Edward Seidenstricker was the father of my husband's maternal grandmother, Anna Margaret Seidenstricker, wife of John H. Fritz.
