Levengood Family of Montgomery, Berks, and Chester Counties PA

My immigrant Levengood ancestor was Ulrich Leibenguth. He and his family arrived in Philadelphia on October 12, 1733 aboard the ship Charming Betsy. According to the ship log, Ulrich was aged 45; Susanna, presumed his wife, was aged 36; Johan Pieter, was aged 16; Adam, was aged 13; Jacob, was aged 10; Anna, was aged 8; and Maria, was aged 5. A fourth son, Albrecht, died before they emigrated. After their arrival in Pennsylvania, a fifth son, Herman, was born about 1734. The Levengoods settled in the vicinity of Faulkner Swamp, which was then part of Philadelphia County

I am a descendant of Ulrich's three oldest sons: Peter and his unknown first wife who died in 1748 throught their daughter Catherine; Adam and his wife Christina Gansert, through their son Mathias; and Jacob and his wife Christina Brand, through their son John.

Catherine Levengood, the daughter of Peter and his unknown first wife, was born in 1743. She married Johannes (aka John) Becker. Among their children were daughters Hannah, born about 1775, and Christina, born 1777. Hannah Becker married Sebastian Bucher, son of Sebastian and Elizabeth (Keeley) Bucher. Sebastian and Hannah are my 4th great-grandparents. I am a descendant of their son Henry Bucher. Hannah's sister, Christina Becker, married John Levengood, son of Jacob and Christina (Brand). John and Christina were first cousins once removed. I am a descendant of their daughter Catherine, who was born in 1799. Catherine married George S. Bechtel in 1816. They are my 3rd great-grandparents.

Matthias Levengood, son of Adam and Christina (nee Gansert), is another of my 4th great-grandfathers. He married Catherine Schuster and I descend from their son Matthias Jr., who married Elizabeth Reinert.
