Becthel Obituaries
In the course of my research, I have collected many obituaries. A large number of these come from the Pottstown, PA newspaper, now called the Mercury, but previously called the Ledger, Daily Ledger, and Daily News. The Pottstown Public Library has a microfilm collection of the various old Pottstown newspapers. (Unfortunately it isn't indexed.) The library also has available CDs which contain obits scanned from the local newspapers. These CDs were created by a local researcher and donated to the library. They are an amazing resource.
For Chester county ancestors, a great source for finding old obituaries is the Newspaper Clippings File at the Chester County Historical Society in West Chester, PA. I have found quite a few obituaries and other news articles in these files.
