Obituary
Montgomery Ledger, November 20, 1866
Drowning Case - We regret to record the drowning of Daniel Evans, a citizen of Limerick township, this county, which occured at Warner's Lock, Schuylkill county, on Wednesday last. Mr. Evans was passing through the lock on his boat, the "Robert L. Webb," when a sudden swell caused the tiller to strike him, knocking him into the water. His wife, who was in the cabin, heard the splash, and at once ran and threw him a rope as he came up, but he did not get hold of it, and sank again, to rise no more alive. The deceased was in his 32d year, and was highly respected by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. His funeral took place on Sunday last, and was largely attended.
