Mary Gracia Keeley was the daughter of Sebastian Jr. and Susannah Keeley. Sebastian Jr. was the son of Sebastian Sr. and Elizabeth (nee possibly Fry) Keeley. Sebastian Jr. was originally from Chester County, PA. He removed to James Island (Charleston) SC on or about 1786. Mary Gracia Keeley's will, which is transcribed below, can be found on microfilm at the Charleston Public Library Genealogy Room in Charleston, SC.

Mary G. Keeley's Will

The State of South Carolina

In the name of God Amen. I Mary G. Keeley of the Parish of St. Andrews in the District of Charleston and state aforesaid Maiden being of sound and disposing mind memory and understanding do hereby make and declare this my last will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say. Imprimis I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my decease as practicable.

Item. I give and bequeath unto John M. Rivers the son of Constant H. Rivers the sum of Five hundred Dollars for his absolute use and behoof forever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto Francis Adeline Hinson the daughter of Joseph B. Hinson the sum of Five hundred Dollars for her absolute use and behoof forever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto William Godber Hinson the son of said Joseph B. Hinson my negro man Peter and his daugher Harriet together with her future issue and increase for his absolute use and behoof forever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my friend Julianna B. Hinson the wife of said Joseph B. Hinson my Buggy and Large Trunk with its contents for her absolute use and behoof forever.

Item. I give and bequeath unto said Joseph B. Hinson and said William Godber Hinson and to the survivor of them the sum of one hundred Dollars and also my faithful slaves Dido, Christianna and her children together with her or their future issue and increase enjoyning my said friends to permit the said slaves to have as much indulgence, consideration and comfort in every respect as the law will permit them in the capacity of owners to extend to the said slaves.

Item. I give and bequeath unto my said friends the said Joseph B. Hinson and the said William Godber Hinson, all the rest and residue of my estate to be divided between them share and share alike to them their Heirs Executors, Administrators and Assigns absolutely and forever.

Lastly, I nominate constitute and appoint the said Joseph B. Hinson and the said William Godber Hinson, executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and annulling all and every other will or parts of wills at any time heretofore by me made and confirming this and none other as my last will and testament.

In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal on this ninth day of April in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred and fify nine.
