The movement came to America in two main groups, one in 1719 and the other in 1729. The Doukhobors are a religious sect that has its beginning in southern Russian in the 18th century which rejected the authority of the state, church and the bible. The Huguenots were French Protestants from the 16th and 17th centuries, many of whom migrated to other countries due to religious persecution.   22. Huguenots-Holland. A mailing list for anyone with a genealogical interest in the Huguenots who came to the Netherlands during the prosecution of Huguenots in France.   30. MCF-ROOTS. A mailing list (Maryland Catholics on the Frontier) for the discussion of descendants of Maryland Catholics who migrated first to Kentucky and then to other parts of the frontier. This was a planned migration and the first group left Maryland in 1785 with others following for the next 10 years or so. Many of the surnames are so intertwined that it is impossible to separate them and the families can be researched as one great big family, especially in Maryland and Kentucky.
