Elizabeth appears in the Llangathen Parish Vestry Book [County Archives,
Carmarthen]. The first entry is in expenditure for the year 1789: Relief
to Eliz. Jeremiah & her child for 7 weeks 8s
Rec'd of Arthur
Davies on acct. of the sd.child 4s8d
We may therefore assume that Arthur was the naughty father; he does not
feature again after this year, so must have either died or fled.
Elizabeth and her "base child", though, continue to be a charge on the
parish until 1799 when there is a final entry "Removing Elizabeth Jermy's
goods from (indecipherable) to North 2s6d" The more romantic may wonder
if the good Arthur had found fortune and sent for her and the child.
There is no further mention of any of them.
