The information on this page came from a descendant, Elizabeth Johnston.
Examining the 1861 and 1881 Censuses, it appears that William was born to
William & Mary Jeremiah who were living in Monkswood at the time of the
1861 Census. In 1881 he had moved to live with Benjamin (widower, born
Goytre) and what remained of his family, at Pentrepiod, Trevethin. At the
time of the 1861 Census Benjamin had been living with his wife Anne (d.12
May 1874) and four children, the oldest being William aged 11. Only one
of the four (Laura) was still with him in 1881, reinforced by four born
in Goytre during the preceding twenty years and this William, born in
Llanover and aged 20.
