The 1871 Census [RG10 5449 Folio 2 Cwmdu Sch 22] shows Geworge Clark aged
27, Joiner, living with his wife Alice, also aged 27, and their son
Thomas Jeremiah C., aged 1.
In the Will of David Jeremiah, made 18 April 1880, David's daughter Alice
is said to be the wife of George Clarke.
At the time of the 1881 Census, George Clark was an Inn Keeper, at The
Traveller's Rest, Neath Road, Llansamlet, living there with his wife and
family.
The 1891 Census shows George Clarke aged 47 living "on his own means" at
Fir Grove Cottage [RG12 4472 p40 Sch 216] with his wife Alice (same age)
and David aged 18, "clerk, steel works", Alice Ann aged 14, Thomas G.
aged 11, Margaret Jane aged 9, and two servants.
