Letter Sgt JAMES WARE > Col Wade Hampton The underwritten sergeants in behalf of the men of the first and second Troop which did belong to Colonel Wade Hampton's Corps, and which now compose the third company of the First South Carolina Continental Regiment begs leave to inform his Excellency that they cannot return to their respective homes (being now on furlough) without requesting him to accept of thier most grateful thanks for the attention he has placed to their requests, and goodnefs in promising to do all in his power to for them, and His Excellency may rest assured they love him and we(?) will have uppermost in their hearts that beat(?) for this Country's Service which led them into it. And they flatter themselves the General Assembly will, upon His Excellency's representation in thier behalf, take into serious consideration the many Fatigues and Hardships they have undergone, and have thier accounts settled in such a manner as the finances of the state will ____ admit of --- With the most profound respect, we beg leave to subscribe our selves in behalf of the men. Bounty Land Grant This is to certify that JAMES WARE, a sergeant in the Continental Line of South Carolina, and by the resolution of Congress and an act and ordinance of this state, is entitled to a warrant & grant for two hundred acres of land within the state as a Sergeant. Witness my hand this Sixteenth day of December in the Year of or Lord, One Thousand seven hundred & eighty four. Ninety-Six District Land Grant I have caused to be Administered and laid out unto JAMES WARE a tract of land containing two hundred acres situate in the district of Ninety-Six on R___ Brancy of Rocky Run, waters of Savannah River. That such ____ marks, R_____ & Boundings as the above plat represents. Auditor General Audited Accounts Pursuant to an act of the General Assembly passed the 16th of March 1783, We the Commissioners of the Treasury have this day delivered to Mr JAMES WARE, this our Indented Certificate, for the sum of 100 pounds, 7 shillingsm for pay ____ and extra allowances due ______ Certificate from the Auditor General. The said JAMES WARE, his executors or assigns will be entitled to receive from this office the sum of Seven shillings ____ and one penny on demand, one year's interest on the principal sum of 104.7 Pounds and the like interest annually. The said JAMES WARE his executors, administrators, or assigns will be entitled to receive and shall be paid if demanded, the principal sum of 104.7, on the 16 Dec 1786(?). And the said JAMES WARE, his executors, administrators or assigns may make any purchase at any public sale of confiscated property (except such that shall be ordered by the legislature for special purposes) and this indent shall be received in payment. For the true performance of the several payments in manner above mentioned, Treasury is liable and faith of state pledged. ======================================================================= 20 Jul 1791.
