WILLIAM CAINE bought land called "Richardson's Plain" in Baltimore County Maryland in 1686. The land was located on the Gunpowder Falls River in what is now the city of Baltimore, Maryland. The only known child of William Caine was a son John Caine.
JOHN CAINE, along with three of his sons, John Caine Jr, Hugh Caine, and James Caine were mentioned in Scharff's "History of Baltimore City and County" as part of a group of people who were to receive land in disputed territory between Maryland and Pennsylvania in 1736. The name was spelled "Kaine" in this accounting.
HUGH CAINE, along with his brother JAMES CAINE, migrated to Orange County North Carolina around 1750/60. It was about this time that the "e" was dropped from "Caine" and the normal spelling became "Cain". Hugh had children: William Cain, Hugh Cain , Jacob Cain, Allen Cain, Ann Cain, John Cain, Margaret Cain and James Cain.
WILLIAM CAIN along with wife Rachel, moved to Hancock County Georgia sometime in the 1780's. The children of William and Rachel were: John Cain, James Cain, Nancy Cain, Frances (Fanny) Cain, Margaret Cain, Allen Cain, and William Cain, Jr. About 1806, William Cain Sr, with most of his family moved to the Natchez District of Mississippi in what is now Wilkinson County Mississippi.
WILLIAM CAIN, JR. Very little is known of William Cain, Jr. He, along with David Irwin and David's wife Frances (Fanny) Cain, obtained a passport in 1807 to pass through the Creek nation to the Natchez district of Mississippi where they joined the rest of the family.
ARCHIBALD W. CAIN (c1799-1869). It is not known for certain that Archibald Cain was the son of William Cain, Jr but evidence points to it. Archibald was born c1799 in Georgia. In 1828, he married Sarah Ann Logan in Wilkinson County Mississippi. Sarah died after giving birth to one child, William L Cain. Archibald married next, in 1831 in Wilkinson County, Julia Ann Cox the daughter of David Cox and Sabrina Glanton. Arch and Julia had the following children: Henry T Cain (died as infant ), Franklin F Cain, Fountain Fairchild Cain, Lemuel Lafayette Cain, Lethia Cain, Carlton C Cain, Archie A Cain, Azaline Cain, Sarah J Cain, and Franklin Cain. In 1834, Arch and Julia moved to Amite County Mississippi where they lived until 1858. In 1858, the family pulled up roots and moved to Caldwell Parish Louisiana. Arch died in Caldwell parish in 1869.
LEMUEL LAFAYETTE CAIN (1842-1909), along with brothers William L and Fountain Fairchild, served in the Third Louisiana Infantry during the Civil War and were all present at the surrender of Vicksburg. After the war, Lemuel married Mary Jane East, daughter of Tarlton and Mary L East. In 1870, Lemuel and Mary Jane were in Harrison County Texas where he was a carpenter. In 1880, the family was in Panola county Texas. Lemuel and Mary Jane had the following children: William Eugene Cain, Charles Quantrelle Cain, Floyd Vaughn Cain, Alda Ella Cain, Freddie Sion Cain, Mary Lila Cain, and Carl Crawford Cain. In approximately 1894, Lemuel and most of the family moved to the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma (now Jefferson County). Lemuel died there in 1909 and Mary Jane in 1923.
FLOYD VAUGHN CAIN (1874-1939) married in 1896, Cora Lee Woolley, the daughter of Elbert P Woolley and Nancy Mary Boyles. Floyd and Cora had children: Herschell Howard Cain, Etha Cain (died infant), Ela Cain, and Maureen Cain. Cora died in 1922 and Floyd married Mitty Guest. Floyd died in 1939.

DAVID SMITH (c1758-c1845) married Anne Blalock. He and Anne lived along Kenney's Creek in Cumberland County NC (now Harnett co). They had children Richard, Elizabeth, and Hardy. In approximately 1820, David, Richard, Hardy and families moved to Autauga co AL.
RICHARD SMITH (c1792-c1865) married in 1813, Rebecca Brazier. Their first child, Wesley Brazier Smith was born in NC. Later in Autauga co AL, they had Steven, Ann, William Richard, and John D. Rebecca died in Autauga co. The families moved next to Tishomingo co MS in c1835. Richard married next Mary Hannah Walker. This union produced Sarah, Thomas, William Hardy, Matilda, Nancy Rebecca, Lorenzo Benson, Malissa Jane, Cinderella and Elias Archibald. Richard died about 1865.
LORENZO BENSON (L. B.) SMITH (1846-1907) L B Smith served in the 26th Mississippi Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. After the war, he married Mary Elizabeth Walker. They lived for a short time in TN, Marshall Co MS, IL, and finally settled in Henderson co TX in 1885. L. B. and Mary had children William Richard, Thomas J, John L, James, Arthur, Robert and Archie. L B Smith died in Clay co TX in 1907. Mary Elizabeth died in a home for confederate widows in Ardmore OK.
WILLIAM RICHARD SMITH (1867-1951) William Richard Smith m Annie Florence Ware in 1895. From this union came Nora Leta, Marshall Ware, Oliver Bryan, William Cornelius, Anna Mae, and Edwin. In approximately 1900 the family (including father L B and mother Mary Elizabeth) begin a long trek to Oklahoma, living along the way in Bellevue TX, Wichita Falls, TX, etc. Annie Florence died in 1945 in Okmulgee OK. William Richard died in 1951 in Okmulgee OK.
NORA LETA SMITH (1895-1990) Nora Leta Smith is my mother.
JAMES WARE was born c1758. In 1780 he was in the militia from Rowan County North Carolina. After the revolution, he moved to Greene County GA where he married Elizabeth Walker in 1787. In 1801 they moved to Spanish West Florida (now Jackson co MS). In a letter to the Spanish Governor of West Florida, James stated that he was a native of Ireland. James and Elizabeth had children: (1 female nfi), William, Laird (Lard), Michael, Joseph, Samuel, James Jr. James qualified for a Revolutionary War pension in 1832 and died shortly thereafter in 1834.
JOSEPH WARE was born 01 Aug 1799 in Georgia. In 1801 he moved with the family to Spanish West Florida (now Jackson co MS). Joseph married Candacy Butler of SC in 1823. They lived in Hinds county MS until 1836 when they moved to Newton co MS. Joseph and Candacy had these children: Martha, Michael, Mary Ann, Candacy, Joseph Anderson, Caroline, Nancy, Eliza (Betty), Amanda, and Jane. Joseph died in 1862 and Candacy in 1873.
MICHAEL WARE was born 15 Jan 1826 in Mississippi. He married Catherine E Carr of Simpson co MS in 1851. In c1869, Michael and Catherine moved to Kaufman county TX. They had children: James Isaac, William Garrett, Mary Catherine, Joseph Edward, Amanda Emma, Elizabeth Candace, Annie Florence, and Ina. Michael and Katie both died in 1900. Both are buried in the Ware cemetery near Tolosa TX.
ANNIE FLORENCE WARE was born in 1867 in Corinth MS. She married William Richard Smith in Henderson county TX in 1895. They had children: Nora Leta, Marshall Ware, Oliver Bryan, William Cornelius, Anna Mae, and Edwin. William R and Florence lived in various places in North Texas before arriving in Ryan, Jefferson County Oklahoma about 1915. Both Annie Florence and William Richard died in Okmulgee OK, Annie Florence in 1945 and William R in 1951.

SHADRACH WOOLLEY was born abt 1754 Fairfield County SC and died c1820 in Edgefield co SC. He married about 1770, Margaret ???. There were five known children: Reason, Ezekiel, Basil Andrew Sr, Minor and Greenberry.
BASIL ANDREW WOOLLEY, SR was born 08 Jun 1777, Chester Co SC and died 06 Oct 1848 in Calhoun Co AL. He married 29 Dec 1805 in Edgefield co SC, Elizabeth Ann Boyd. This union resulted in the following children: Robert Adolph, Edwin, Jesse Irby, Gennetta, Alpha, Pinkney, Minor, Andrew Jackson, Basil Andrew Jr, Sabra Ann, Elizabeth Ann, Mary Caroline, and Virgil T Woolley.
ROBERT ADOLPH WOOLLEY was born 19 Feb 1807 in Edgefield co SC and died 12 Jun 1876 in Jericho, Perry co AL. He married 29 Nov 1826, in Bibb co AL, Mary Polly White. There were eleven children in this marriage: Lucinda, Elbert Pinkney, Alfred Irby, Basil Monroe, Mary Ann, Rutherford Hayes, Julia Ann, Elizabeth Ann June, Joseph Simon, John S, and Lucy Lilly.
ELBERT PINKNEY WOOLLEY was born 11 Jan 1830 in AL and died bef 1893 in OK?. He married 29 Oct 1855 in Perry co AL, Nancy Mary Boyles. This union resulted in eleven children: John Robert, Mary Florence, Elbert Carroll, Elizabeth Ann, Basil Monroe, Turissa Iantha, Mary Parolee, Pearl Balmer, Lilly White, Cora Lee, and Lula Mae Woolley. Elbert P Woolley served in Co E, 41st Alabama Infantry during the Civil War. About 1870, the family moved to Bell County TX.
CORA LEE WOOLLEY was born 24 Apr 1876 in Bell Co TX and died 05 Feb 1922 in Ryan, Jefferson Co OK. She married, 08 Nov 1896, Floyd Vaughn Cain. This marriage resulted in four children: Etha Cain (died in infancy), Herschel Howard Cain, Ela Cain, and Maureen Cain.
