Entries for Block 23 in city hall records read as follows:

Sold to F. V. CAIN 2/20 1922 for $12.50. Mrs. CAIN is buried on lot.

(NOTE: CORA CAIN died on 05 Feb 1922)

Sold to Mamie McDaniels 8/20/1945 space (illegible) guard 13 x 16 beg. 2
ft from NW corner of Lot 2 Block 23 thence 13' East, thence 16' North,
thence 13' West, thence 16' South to beg.

(NOTE: The dashed lines in the figure for Block 23 above represent a
small concrete guard fence surrounding the CAINS and Schramm. The x's
represent the area purchased by Mamie in 1945 if I am interpreting it
correctly. The entry could be interpreted to mean the lots she purchased
are the ones where CARL and LERA are buried. At any rate, there is no
marker for MAMIE or CORA but there is an unmarked space next to FLOYD and
the area represented by the x's is unmarked.)

FLOYD'S space is marked by a plaque that reads as follows:
            -------------------------
           | FLOYD V. CAIN |

LEMUEL LAFAYETTE CAIN is buried in Terral Cemetery. His headstone is a
simple slab about 24" high and 15" across. It appears to be molded from
a concrete like substance and the writing has very nearly worn away.
Another couple of years will render it completely illegible. I very
nearly passed over it. I recognized it only by the birth and death
dates. The years 1909 and 1842 can be read with some difficulty.
Everything else on it has to be deciphered character by character.
However, there is NO doubt that this is the burial place of our Great
Grandfather.

The grave setting is of course in one of the oldest sections of the
cemetery. It is near the center of the grounds and is completely shaded
by giant oak trees which were probably small saplings when he was buried.
Peace and serenity is an apt description of the site. This man was a
confederate soldier and fought with the Third Louisiana Infantry at the
siege of Vicksburg. He and his family were the first CAIN settlers in
the Oklahoma - Texas area.

About thirty feet north of L. L. CAIN'S gravesite is the burial place
of John R. Chilcoat who was the first husband of Mamie Cain. Mabel Dena
Cain, the infant daughter of John R. and Mary Lila (Mamie) Chilcoat is
buried next her dad.

FLOYD VAUGHN CAIN OBITUARY (Newspaper unknown)

FLOYD VAUGHAN CAIN, son of L. L. and MARY JANE CAIN, was born in
Harrison County, Texas, September 2, 1874 and departed this life in Ryan,
Okla, March 29, 1939, reached the age of 64 years, 6 months and 7 days
old.

He came to Indian Territory near what is now Terral, Okla., in
Jefferson County, in 1893. In 1908 he moved near Ryan where he has lived
since that time except for five years spent at Bethany, Okla.

He was united in marriage to CORA LEE Wooley, Nov. 8, 1896. To this
union were born four children. One daughter, ETHA, died in infancy. His
wife preceded him in death on February 5, 1922.

Mr. CAIN was converted in Nov. 1909, under the ministry of Evangelist
Ed Ferguson and a little later was sanctified and united with the local
Church of the Nazarene under the ministry of Rev. James Pierce. He lived
a victorious Christian life since that time.

On May 22, 1923 he was united in marriage with MITTIE L. Guest, and
for 15 years they have had happy companionship together.

He leaves to mourn his departure beside his wife, one son HERSHELL CAIN
of Tyler, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. ELA Parker of Bakersfield, Calif.,
and Mrs. MAUREEN McLAIN of Bethany, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. MAMIE
McDaniel of Ryan; one brother, CARL CAIN of Ryan. Also seven
grandchildren, seven stepchildren, and other loving relatives and
friends.

He was a devout Christian, a faithful worker, a loving father and a
devout husband.

Funeral services were conducted at the Nazarene Church on Thursday
afternoon. After the singing of "Every Day and How", by the choir, Mrs.
Cassie Brown, a friend of many years paid touching tribute to the life
and character of the deceased. This was followed by a duet, "It Is Well
With My Soul", rendered by Mrs. Estelle Sinclair and Mrs. Richard Stark.
For the Scripture, Rev. W. H. Burton, pastor of Ryan Nazarene Church
read First Thess. 4:12:18. After prayer, the pastor spoke from the
Scripture, Second Timothy 4:7-8, "I have fought a good fight, I have
finished my course, I have kept the faith, henceforth there is laid up
for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge
shall give me at that day". To conclude the service, the choir sang "What
a Friend we Have in Jesus".

Interment was made in Ryan cemetery with the Claud Grantham Funeral
Home in charge.

Among out of town relatives and friend here to attend the funeral
were: HERSCHELL and LETA CAIN, Tyler, Texas; Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher McLain
