Peter J. Sciarrino, M.D. is one of the younger group of general medical practitioners in Niagara Falls, in creditable standing among his co-workers in the profession and wtih gratifying prospects of a successful career in his chosen line. Born Sept. 9, 1891, at Valledolmo, Italy, he is a son of Salvatora [sic] and Josephine Sciarrino, now residents of Buffalo, N.Y., in which city they located upon first coming to this country in 1893. The family returned to Italy in 1897, but came back to this country in 1899, and have since remained here. The father is also a native of Valledolmo.
Dr. Sciarrino was an infant when his parents came to Buffalo in 1893, and just of school age when they returned to America in 1897, beginning his education in grammar school No. 13, at Buffalo, that year. He was graduated from the Masten Park High School in that city in 1911, and the same year entered the medical department of the University of Buffalo, completing the course and receiving his degree of M.D. in 1915. For the six months following his graduation from medical school he was engaged as interne at the Erie County Hospital, locating in Niagara Falls to commence independent practice on Jan. 6, 1916. His office and residence are at No. 439 Eleventh street. Dr. Sciarrino is keenly interested in all the broad activities of his profession, with which he keeps in touch through his membership in the Niagara Falls Academy of Medicine, the New York State Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. Socially he belongs to the Kiwanis Club, the Ongiara Club, and the Niagara Falls Rifle Club. During the World war he was particulary devoted to Red Cross work, serving as captain of one of the branches in Niagara Falls, and his wife was also active in the same field. His religious connection is with St. Joseph's Catholic Church. By his marriage to Lucia E. Garrasi, daughter of Salvatora [sic] Garrasi, Dr. Sciarrino has one daughter, Lucia J. Mrs. Sciarrino is a graduate pharmacist, having taken her degree in 1913.
