Irish Families Identified in the 1880 US Census Who were Living in the City of South Bend, St Joseph County, Indiana Ennumeration District 161, with Surnames U-Z

District 161 covers the City of South Bend Wards one and part of Ward 4 (the other part is in district 162). In addition to the Irish in this district there were many other immigrants from places like Bavaria, Prussia, Italy, Canada, England and a multitude of other places.

I plan to include Irish Descendents who were born in the U.S. but have at least one parent from Ireland, in this compilation. Many of the Irish in the City of South Bend had been here since the 1850's and by the 1880's their children who were born here could be having children.

I am in the process of tracing all of these South Bend Irish Families and have created pages on over 40 of them so far. I would love to hear from any descendents of these families so that we can share information and see how all of our ancestor's migration trails might have crossed. By working together, I think we will all have a much greater likelihood of finding our true origins in Ireland.

This is a work in progress!

They will be presented alphabetically by the father's or the head of the family's surname:
