The Thomas Flood and Catherine McIntyre Family of South Bend, Indiana: An Analysis of their Irish and Scottish Roots and Their Migration from Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland to Canada, Kalamazoo Michigan, South Bend Indiana and Wolcott White County, Indiana
Thomas Flood and Catherine McIntyre appear to have been married in Tradeston, Glasgow, Lanark, Scotland on Mary 28, 1862 according to the compilation on familysearch.org entitled "Scotland Marriages 1561-1910." Thomas Flood is documented as being born in Scotland in the 1870 Kalamazoo, Michigan census and Ireland in both the 1880 South Bend, Indiana and 1900 Wolcott, White County, Indiana Census. His wife Kate (Katherine) consistently is documented as being from Scotland. Their four children, Agnes, Margaret, John and Thomas were born in Canada acccording to the 1870 census, but Agnes was listed as being born in Glasgow, Scotland in the 1880 census. Their migration appears to have taken them from Scotland to Canada, Kalamazoo, Michigan, South Bend, Indiana and Wolcott, White County, Indiana.
The objective of this compilation is to try to establish the earliest possible evidence of this family in the United States through all available resources.
This will most definitely be a work in progress and all findings I speculate on would have to be proven for accuracy with Ireland and U.S. marriage records, church baptismal records and death records among other genealogical resources.
