The Martin and Ellen McNulty Family in the Cook County Illinois Census and Other Records
Martin McNulty, son of James McNulty and Margaret Wheelan was born on November 10, 1857 and died at age 64 on November 29, 1921 according to his death record (on the LDS site familysearch.org) in Cook County Illinois. He was documented as Martin J McNulty of 8008 Luella Avenue, Cook County Illinois. His wife was Ellen A McNulty. I can't tell if she had died or was still living from this record. The information was provided by Mrs. Margaret Morris of that same address. Martin's parents were listed as James McNulty and Margaret Whalen (both born in Ireland). He was a Building bricklayer and died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis. He was buried at Mt. Olivet on December 3, 1921. I've noted that numerous other McNulty's also appear to be buried at this cemetery.
Research findings: There was a birth certificate for a male child (name not documented) born to Martin McNulty and Nellie Flynn on January 6, 1903 in Cook County, Illinois. This Martin was born in South Bend, Indiana and Nellie in Normal Illinois. I still believe that this is most likely the same Martin, son of James and Margaret McNulty. On further investigation I found a marriage record from St. Joseph Church in South Bend, Indiana from November 23, 1892 for a Thoman McNally (parents Henricus McNally and Anna McGrath) and Maria Flynn, widow of Jacob Haney (her parents were Johannis Flynn and Helena Welsh of Niles Michigan). Further research is necessary to confirm that Flynn is the surname of Martin's wife Ellen.
Martin was still living with his family on Notre Dame Avenue in South Bend in the 1880 census (born about 1858). I believe I have found his marriage record, but his parent's names arent given so I can't be sure. Margaret Morris (apparently his daughter whom he was living with at the time of his death) and in the census below was married to Joseph C Morris in Cook County Illinois on September 17, 1919 by Rev Edward O'Reilly. Margaret M was 21 years of age and Joseph was 28. The parents names were not listed on this marriage license. Margaret (McNulty) Morris, her husband Joseph and their son George (7) were living on 8408 Paxton Avenue, Chicago, Cook County Illinois, District 305 in the 1930 US Census.
Regarding Martin McNulty (son of Martin and Nellie Flynn) and Mabel Lippert. I believe Mabel was living with her parents John and Francis, siblings Ora and Bonnie in Cook County Illinois, ward 8 in the 1920 Census. Mabel was 12 at the time. In the 1930 Cook County, Chicago District 413 Census, her mom Francis Lyopert (Lippert) was a 53 year old widow living with her daughter Bonnylin Tilbert, 24 (Telephone Operator) and her husband (son in law) Robert Tilbert (Foreman of the Yard Steel Mill). Francis is listed as being born in Michigan, parents in Canada.
