The Thomas William Corcoran and Eliza Crowther Family of Huddersfield, Yorkshire, England and his Second Marriage to Fanny Camplejohn of Bramley, Leeds, Yorkshire: An Analysis of their Families Development in the Yorkshire, England Census and Other Records.

The Connaught Counties of Galway, Roscommon, Mayo and Sligo are heavily represented in the Huddersfield England Census Records when the county names are given as a place of birth. The amazing research compiled on the Irish in England by great authors like Donald Macraid, Roger Swift, Donald E Jordan Junior, Sheridan Gilley, Kevin O'Connor, John Belchem, Frank Boyce and L. W. Brady among others seems to support repeated migration trails from certain counties in Ireland to certain places in England.

My objective in this research is to analyze the Corcoran Families in Huddersfield England Census records over the years to see migration pattern trends from certain counties, possible Civil Parishes in Ireland and even with families of the surname itself. I hope to eventually connect them to the Corcorans that I am identifying in the Catholic Church Records in both County Mayo and County Roscommon Ireland. This will most definitely be a work in progress and all findings I speculate on would have to be proven for accuracy with GRO of England marriage records, church baptismal records and death records among other genealogical records. Please use this information with that caveat in mind so that nothing is assumed and no stones are left unturned to assure it's your family and the connection is accurate.

Please contact me if you feel you are descended from this family (or from other siblings of Michael Corcoran and Martha Gledhill) so that we might work together to trace these families back further! I have tried to trace this family down through the children (and their marriages) of Thomas and Eliza Corcoran. The scope of this compilation is limited to this one page to minimize download times and my primary focus is to work backward trying to identify the ancestors, siblings and origins of Michael Corcoran (Thomas William's father). A descendent of Arthur Redvers Corcoran graciously filled me in on his side of this tree. According to him there is a connection with this family and the Binns of Bramley Organ Makers.

Analysis of Findings: I believe that Thomas William Corcoran is the son of Michael Corcoran (who was deceased by the time Thomas married Eliza Crowther in 1890) and Martha Gledhill, whom he married on April 23, 1860 in The Parish Church of Kirkheaton, Yorkshire. I believe that this fits the timeline for the birth of their first child, Thomas William in the quarter ending December 1860. Their are marriage records for several Martha's marrying Michael Corcorans for this time period. A GRO record or copy of the original church record may provide confirming evidence as to Thomas William Corcoran's mother's maiden name. The earlier records of this compilation provide information on Thomas William's Family before he married Eliza Crowthers.
