The Thomas Boyle and Anne Fili (Phely) Family of Huddersfield England, Witnesses (Anne) at the Marriage of Martin Brennan and Catherine Corcoran, and Godparents (Thomas) at the Baptism of their Daughter Mary
The Connaught Counties of Galway, Roscommon, Mayo and Sligo are heavily represented in the Huddersfield England Census Records when the county names are given as a place of birth. The amazing research compiled on the Irish in England by great authors like Donald Macraid, Roger Swift, Donald E Jordan Junior, Sheridan Gilley, Kevin O'Connor, John Belchem, Frank Boyce and L. W. Brady among others seems to support repeated migration trails from certain counties in Ireland to certain places in England.
I believe there is a significant probability of a migration trail followed by these families, that Thomas Boyle, Ann Fili, Martin Brennan, Catherine Corcoran, Patrick Reynolds and Cath Bride may have come from the same part of County Mayo, Ireland. This will be a work in progress to search for the origins of these families. I would love to hear from other researchers who feel they are descendents of the Boyles, Brides, Reynolds, Filis, Brennans and Corcorans of Huddersfield, England so that we might work together to discover the origins of these families!This will most definitely be a work in progress and all findings I speculate on would have to be proven for accuracy with GRO of England marriage records, church baptismal records and death records among other genealogical records. Please use this information with that caveat in mind so that nothing is assumed and no stones are left unturned to assure it's your family and the connection is accurate.
Ann Fili and Patrick Reynolds (both born in Ireland) were documented as being witnesses in the 1849 marriage of my second great grandparents Martin Brennan and Catherine Corcoran at St Patrick's Church in Huddersfield, England. Both Ann and Patrick were listed as living on Castlegate in 1849. Castlegate is a street with a huge concentration of Irish in Huddersfield. Thomas Boyle and Cath Bride were listed as godparents on the baptism of Martin and Catherine's daughter Mary in October 1850. I believe there is a significant probability that Martin and Catherine Brennan may have come from the same area in Ireland as the Boyles, Reynolds, Brides and Filis.
There is another Boyle family on Windsor Court in the 1851 census that may also be a sibling of Thomas and Ann Boyle (Luke and Margaret Boyle). I have done some rudimentary research in the Huddersfield census records (1851,1861, 1881, 1891) on this family (Luke and Margaret) and it appears, based on the 1881 census that they are from Kilcommon, County Mayo, Ireland. There is a Kilcommon-Erris, a Kilcommon (Belmullet), a Kilcommon (Roundfort) as well as a Kilcolman in Claremorris and a Kilcolman in Ballaghaderreen in County Mayo Ireland. The Kilcolman in Ballaghaderreen was transferred from County Mayo to County Roscommon, Ireland around 1891.
