The Giant's Causeway, County Antrim, Northern Ireland: A 60 Million Year Old Geologic Phenomenon or Pathway Created by the Legendary Finn McCool

The Giant's Causeway on the County Antrim Coast in Northern Ireland is a 60 million year old display of basalt columns (remnants of volcanic activity) that appear to form a Stepping stone pathway. Legend has it that Finn McCool (an Irish Giant) created the Giant's Causeway to aid his crossing from Ireland to Scotland to challenge a Scottish Giant. A variety of stone formations including the Giant's Organ, Giant's Eyes, Boot and Gate, Wishing Chair, Giant's Granny, Amphitheatre and Camel are visible from a trail that winds through this Heritage Site, in addition to the Giant's Causeway.
