German Township Irish Families in the 1850 St Joseph County Census
I was unable to identify any Irish born individuals living in German Township when the 1850 census was taken. Ancestry.com identified Suzannah Kizer, wife of Ebenzer Kizer to be born in Ireland, but I believe the translation says Delaware. Her husband Ebenzer was born in Pennsylvania. German Township is located just north of Portage Township and northwest of the actual city center of South Bend at that time. It is bordered by Warren Township to the west and Clay Township to the east. Clay Township, on the other hand, had a significant concentration of Irish living within its borders in 1850.
