Coffee (Coffey, Coffy Surname in Louisburgh Roman Catholic Parish Records, County Mayo, Ireland

The Louisburgh Roman Catholic Parish Records are covered in two different microfilms: Microfilm Number 1279212 items 3 and 4 and Microfilm Number 926224 Items 1 and 2. Microfilm Number 1279212 is listed as covering the following according to the LDS website: "Baptisms, 1894-1919; marriages, 1844-1845 (copy); marriages, 1906-1922; baptisms, 1850-1872 (copy); baptisms, 1906-1922." I am currently working my way through item 3 of this film. Louisburgh Roman Catholic Parish was previously referred to as Kilgeever and includes part of Kilgeever Civil Parish in County Mayo. I will order Microfilm 926224 at some later date. I have a page specifically on the Town of Louisburgh in my County Mayo Market Town section.

Summary of Findings for Item 3 of Microfilm 1279212: There were no individuals with the Coffee, Coffey or Coffy Surname documented as being baptised in Item 3 of this Microfilm, nor were there any individuals with these surnames who sponsored baptisms.

Summary of Findings for Item 4 of microfilm 1279212: Some of the earlier original records of Item 4 are nearly impossible to read! I am still working my way through this item. There were no individuals with the Coffee, Coffey, or Coffy Surname documented as being baptised or married in Item 4 of this microfilm, nor were any individuals with this surname sponsors for Baptisms or witnesses of marriages. Keep in mind that there is another microfilm (926224) on this Catholic Parish that may have records with the Coffee Surname or its variations. I will be ordering this film at a later date.

I have done my best to correctly transcribe these records, but after five or so hours behind a microfilm reader, the likelihood of mistakes in both interpretation and transcription most certainly increases. I have the microfilm and item numbers on which the records were found so you can confirm the information. In an attempt to minimize download times I have limited the information presented on each family. The records in this section will document Baptisms (B) and Marriages (M). I also have documented all of the baptisms and marriages sponsored/witnessed by Brennans; although these are not included online, they can yield valuable clues such as "circles of friends" and possible Townlands that might provide a missing link. There are additional details in these records such as date of birth, sponsors, priests, and at times notes in the margin detailing marriages and deaths. If you feel that your family is in this compilation, please feel free to contact me and I will share with you the additional details.
