Brennan Families Identified in the 1841 Manchester Civil Parish, St. George Sub Registration District, Lancashire, England and Research into their Irish Origins

Liverpool was the port of entry for the vast majority of the Irish that departed the Connaght Counties of Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo and Galway. Many Irish immigrants unable to find work in Liverpool were drawn to places like Manchester, Bradford and Leeds and their thriving textile and other industrial development in the mid 19th century. The challenge in tracing these Manchester families will be in identifying those families that stayed in the Manchester area, those that may have moved on to other Counties and Civil Parishes in England for improved employment opportunities and those that immigrated to the United States, Canada and elsewhere.

Keep in mind that the connections I draw are what appear to me to be the same family and need to be further analyzed to make sure the conclusion is correct (hopefully with supporting evidence such as GRO marriage records and baptismal records). Please use this information with that caveat in mind so that nothing is assumed and no stones are left unturned to assure it's your family and the connection is accurate.

Regarding the Surname Bannan: There was a Mary Bannan, a 25 year old factory worker who was born in Ireland living in District 5 on Bennett Street and another Bannon Family on Barrow's Bridge in the same district (Emma Bannon 30, Cotton Picker and Ann Bannon 15 Cotton Picker, both born in Ireland). There was also a Jame Bannon 25, a Tailor born in Ireland in District 24. I have not included the Bannan or Bannon surname in the following compilation because it is not what a true variation of the Brennan or Brannan surname.
