Brennan Families in Balla and Manulla Roman Catholic Parish Records with Spouse's Surnames G-I
Regarding Surname Gannon: The Town listed in the Baptism of Michl appears to be Relnagen or Kelnagen. I couldn't find either in the General Alphabetical Index to the Townlands and Towns, Parishes and Baronies of Ireland. It might possibly a small town or an obsolete name. There is a Rathremond in Manulla Civil Parish and a Roslahan in Drum, but these don't resemble those names at all. I could not decipher the Townland in the Baptismal record for Honor Brennan in 1844, it looks like Colhageeni but I couldn't find any towns close to this in Balla, Manulla or Drum Civil Parishes.
Regarding Surname Gavan: The Townland of Lisnolan mentioned in Thos Brennan's Baptism in 1858 is located in Manulla Civil Parish. Pat Brennan was one of the sponsors for the baptism of Peggy Brennan on May 11, 1862.
Regarding Surname Ginsall? and Garrett: I couldn't find any Townlands similar in appearance to Ballinamadegh that is listed in Jas Ginsall's Baptism. There is a a Ballymackeough and a Ballymacloughlin in Balla Civil Parish, but those look like remote possibilities. The Townland in Honor's baptism in 1854 appears to be Graddough. I couldn't find any similar townlands in Balla, Manulla or Drum, but there is a Graddoge in Rosslee, a neighboring Civil Parish that might be a possibility. Margt Brennan witnessed the marriage of Nicholas Garut? and Mary Brennan June 30, 1846.
Regarding Surname Gibbons: Tho Brennan sponsored the baptism of Mary Gibbons June 17, 1874. This record was difficult to read.
Regarding Surname Gormorne (Gormon?): Pat Brennan witnessed the marriage of Martin Gorman and Bridget Brennan on December 10, 1849. Pat and John's baptismal records mention the Townland of W-Fort. This is likely Weatherfort in Rosslee Civil Parish. Pat Brennan sponsored John's baptism in 1854.
Regarding Surname Greely: The baptismal record for Patrick lists Skidding as the Townland; there is a Skiddernagh in Manulla Civil Parish that is most probably what was being referred to.
Regarding Surname Harrick: Mary Brennan sponsored the baptism of Ellen Brennan February 14, 1877.
Regarding Surname Henaghty: There was a baptismal record for a child born to Owne Henaghty and Bridget Brennan on May 1885. I believe it belongs with the Owen Feenaghtly family in the F section, so I have included it there.
Regarding Surname Hinsham or Henehan: Mary Brennan witnessed the marriage of Pat Hynsham and Mary Brennan January 3, 1855. I couldn't find any Townlands resembling the Rosacklesey that is mentioned in Mich'ls baptism. Martin Brennan was one of his sponsors. There is a Roslahan Lower in Drum Civil Parish but that looks like quite a stretch. The Townland in Bridget Henahan's baptismal record lists Knock--? as the Townland. There are numerous Townlands beginning with Knock in Drum and Manulla as well as a Knockbee I have seen repeatedly mentioned in these records whose location is uncertain. There is a note in the margin of Michl Henaghan's baptismal record that says he married Celia McGraph in Ballintubber. Bt Brennan sponsored Mary Henaghan's baptism on June 27, 1869. Patrick and Bridget Brennan sponsored the baptism of Honoria Heneghan on May 26?, 1871.
Regarding Surname Hughes: Jno Brennan was a sponsor for the baptism of Martin Brennan in 1844. Weatherfort is a Townland in Rosslee Civil Parish (just south of Balla, Manulla and Drum Civil Parishes).
Regarding Surname Hyland: Judy Brennan witnessed the marriage of Jas Hyland and Biddy Brennan on October 31, 1852. Eliza Brennan was a sponsor for the baptism of Thady in 1842. I couldn't find any Townlands remotely close to --vadruhed. Mary Hyland's baptismal record records the Townland as Linolan. I think this probably is Lisnolan, Manulla Civil Parish. Michael Brennan was a sponsor for the baptism of John Hyland in 1858.
