The Townland of Ballyhaunis in County Mayo, Ireland was a prominent Market Town in the early 19th century. The Statistical Survey of County Mayo that was conducted around 1802 showed Ballyhaunis having four fairs a year trading primarily horses and cattle. This early history is acknowledged by the livestock figure displayed in Ballyhaunis' central square pictured below.
