This portion of Kilcommon Civil Parish lies within Kilmaine Barony and had Catholic Chapels in the Townlands of Carrowmore and Rahard at the time the Griffith's Valuation was conducted between 1856 and 1857. There was a Church of undocumented affiliation in the Townland of Hollymount Demesne and a Presbyterian Church in the Town of Hollymount that lies within the Townland of Kilrush. There were graveyards in Hollymount Demesne and Kilcommon.
