Explanation of Information

Map reference - the numbers and letters that appear on the ordnance survey maps that were published with the Griffith's Valuation. For example, if you find a "1a" on ordnance survey map #32, that will be the location of the house occupied by William Callaghan in the townland of Firville East.
Townland - the area of land, or street within a town, on which a property is sited
Occupier - the person living, farming, or doing business, in that location
Lessor - the person who controls the property in question, either as owner, or as an intermediary agent
Description - what the property consists of, house, garden, land, etc. Offices in this context means an outbuilding of some sort, a shed, or barn.
Area - the size of the property measured in acres, roods, and perches.
Value - the estimated amount of annual rent that could be derived from a property in pounds, shillings, and pence.
