TWO SCHEDULED TRIALS ENDED BY GUILTY PLEAS       

Two scheduled trials were called off in county courts today when the defendants pleaded guilty to the charges against them.
     William A. Nicely, 28, of 1820 George avenue, pleaded guilty before Judge J. Fred Bingham in superior court No. 1 to a charge of grand larceny.  James L. Holtzapple, 22, of 230 East Lawrence street, Mishawaka, pleaded guilty before Judge J. Elmer Peak in superior court No. 2 to a charge of seond-degree burglary.
     Nicely was arrested last March after he allegedly took $160 frm Forest Skiles, 406 East Monroe street, during a scuffle outside the River cafe on Sample street, near Lincoln way.
     Holtzapple was arrested last Feb. 15 a few hours after a burglary of Paul's Cigar store, 108 East First street, Mishawaka.

MARSHALL--Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Marshall, of Chicago, a daughter, June 1 in a Chicago hospital.  Mrs. Marshall was formerly Miss Jerri Miller, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Smith, of 707 Pennsylvania avenue.
BIGNALL--Dr. and Mrs. C. Rexford Bignall, Grand Rapids, Mich., a daughter, June 1, in Butterworth hospital, Grand Rapids.  Mrs. Bignall was formerly Miss Kathryn Steiner, South Bend.
RIVARD--Mr. and Mrs. Earl J. Rivard, 937 Washington avenue, son, June 2, Memorial hospital, South Bend.
PFALLAR--Mr. and Mrs. Jack G. Pfallar, 527 1/2 Lincoln Way West, son, June 2, St. Joseph hospital.

Divorce Granted

THORPE--Ruth L. Thorpe from Rolland F. Thorpe, charged cruelty; she was given custody of two children; circuit court.

 MUSIC AWARDS GIVEN TO PUPILS       

Gold certificates were awarded to Larry Blad, Myra Gay Stutsman and Henry and Guy Curtis Tuesday night by the Northern Indiana Conservatory of Music at its annual spring festival in the conservatory hall, 509 West Washington avenue.
     Red certificates were awarded to the following:  Darlene Schoer, Nancy Stephens, Cynthia and Margaret White, Shirley Billman, Charmian Burke, Nancy P?gh, Mardell Ivankovics, Larry Beckwith, Uursula Ries, Susan Armstrong, William Stedman, Shirley Stedman and Marilyn Brown.

CRASH VICTIM.  

MISS KATHLEEN MARLIN.       

The body of Miss Kathleen Rebecca Marlin, aged 25, of 219 South 11th street, Niles, Mich., was found early Sunday in her car which had crashed against a tree in Pinhook park, north of South Bend.  Services were held in Niles Tuesday.  Miss Marlin served with the WAVES during world war II and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Marlin.
