| This photo is 8x10 in a 12x14 cardboard frame.
The photographer is Kaylor Studio, Mishawaka, Indiana. I
assume that it was taken before 1900 and that my
grandfather, Louis Strantz, or my grandmother, Lottie
(Glon) Strantz, may be in the picture. My grandfather was
born in 1877 in Terre Coupee and he told me that he
helped to build the St. Stanislaus Kostka so this is
probably not that church.. Answer: The mystery of the church photo has been solved. I received only one reply from viewers of your web site and that person lived clear across the country and could only offer a few research tips. Jim Piechorowski, a local researcher, was the person who solved the puzzle. The church is not a church but it is a school; St. Monica's School in Mishawaka. The picture was taken around 1917 and I believe that my father is in the group, standing next to the priest. |

| Bob has found some pictures belonging to Great Grand Mother Sarah Catherine Carr Vandusen's, some of the pictures are identified some are not. Most of the people were from the LaPorte area and we are placing them here since we are neighboring counties, there may be some cross over of family links. If you can identify please contact Bob by clicking on his name on the right. (Added - 03/18/2010) | Bob Lung | |

| I've "rescued" two old photographs
belonging to the POOR Family of Indiana. The first is a photograph of A. POOR which was taken at the James Bonney Studio in South Bend, IN. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1860's or 1870's with the man in the photograph likely in his teens or 20's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as Mrs. A. POOR and Mary A. POOR and was taken at the L. H. Mandeville Studio in Valparaiso, IN. This second photograph was likely taken in the 1860's (portion of civil war tax stamp remains on the back) with Mary appearing to be in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. On the back of the second photograph someone has also written "she is no longer poor, but is none worse off than when she was poor". I believe this is an attempt at a funny play on words with the surname POOR. I am hoping to locate someone from this POOR Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of the family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. |

| This is an oldie. My father used to work for
REA Express in South Bend, he is in the picture REA (Railway Express Agency) is no longer in business. My dad filled his truck and made deliveries all over South Bend, the priests at Notre Dame especially liked him as they let him fish on the lake on his lunch hour! My dad is Anton "Tony" Szabo, and he is in the top row, far right. (updated 05/27/2010) |

| I originally thought it was the marriage of Alex Farkas and Sophia Mocello, but I was told it was wrong. The two men standing to the far right look like brothers. I have no idea who these people are. (Added 09/09/2010) | Nadine Hardin | |
| I've "rescued" an old photograph of
Jennie WIRTS which was taken at the Heck Studio in South
Bend, Indiana. The photograph appears to have
been taken in the 1890's with Jennie likely in her 20's
at the time it was taken. I am hoping to
locate someone from this WIRTS Family so that the
photograph can be returned to the care of her family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. (Added 02/04/2012) |

| The photo I have was taken by McDonald Studio, either
301 or 801 S. Michigan St.,South Bend. It was identified
only as "relatives in South Bend". I was told my Wachowiak/Was ancestors stayed in South Bend with relatives on their wayto Illinois and Iowa when they immigrated in 1866. But the photo could, of course, have been taken any time after that. Is there any way to identify the bride and groom? |
