Welcome to the home page for the Cass & Miami County Indiana Pioneer Cemetery Project.
The Indiana Pioneer Cemeteries Restoration Project was begun in October 1997
as an effort to generate public awareness about the neglected pioneer cemeteries
of Indiana. The state of Indiana is home to thousands of abandoned or
neglected pioneer cemeteries, the oldest of which now approach 200 years.
The goal of this project is to restore and preserve as many of these cemeteries
as possible. This project was founded on the belief that we owe our pioneer
ancestors a better monument than a forgotten grave amid bramble and thicket.
Hello, I am Debby Beheler coordinator of the Miami & Cass County INPCRP.
If you have any questions or comments about the project, please e-mail
me . If you would like to adopt an Indiana County for this project,
please contact our State Coordinator, L. A.
Clugh. Visit the INPCRP State
Page When emailing me with questions or comments, please mention the county and name of the cemetery. There are several cemeteries with duplicate names in surrounding counties. I am involved with indexing of tombstone inscriptions and burials for many cemeteries in Cass, Miami and Howard Counties. It is my philosophy that preservation of cemeteries must include recording of the data and images in the cemetery as well as physically cleaning, repairing and resetting of the monuments.
