The location of McCarty Cemetery, located in Cedar Creek Township, is about a one-half mile south of Creston on what was once the old McCarty Farm. It can be reached by going south on County Road E (the Cedar Lake-Lowell Road), turning west at the sign which designated Lake Dale-Carlia, and continuing about one-quarter. The cemetery is on the south side of the road, there is a narrow worn lane which leads around the area

McCarty Cemetery was located by Mr. Dixon Barr, a member of the Crown Point Chapter of the S.A.R.  Mrs. Joseph Brown and Mrs. W. A. McBride first read the cemetery on July 22, 1956. On August 31, 1959, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Mc Bride were told by Mr. Elmer Vinnedge that the cemetery was also known has Hill Cemetery. Later, the cemetery was read by Miss Ethel Vinnedge. In 1994, Doris and Ed Brozak of the Northwest Indiana Genealogical Society were not able to locate this cemetery. The following index is from the earlier readings. We are very grateful for the earlier readings and have included them in our cemetery index book for Cedar Creek Township.

This is only an every name index. If you would like further information about any of your ancestors that are buried in this cemetery, please refer to our Lookup Research Request Policy. The full cemetery index, containing additional information, can also purchased (see our Publications webpage) or accessed at several Northwest Indiana libraries, as well as at several other genealogical Libraries.
