Meetings of the Society are monthly. They are free and open to the public. Check our Facebook page for time and place.
Each April our society, along with the Michigan City Public Library, sponsors a genealogy research bus trip to the Allen County Public Library. For more information on this trip or on any of our programs, contact the program chairperson at [email protected] with Bus Trip Chair in the subject line.
The June meeting is a tour of a county cemetery. Location varies.
The September meeting is dedicated to the awarding of Residency Certificates.
The December meeting is a luncheon or dinner where the Genealogist of the Year is introduced.
Board Meetings are held monthly.
Objectives
- Collect, preserve and disseminate knowledge and information with reference to genealogy, history, biography and heraldry.
- Promote and sustain interest in the study of these fields, especially with reference to La Porte County, Indiana.
- Pool interests and aid individual members of the Society.
- Establish relations with other societies for the purpose of genealogy.
- Issue publications relating to genealogy.
