Condition:
This cemetery is mowed and partially fenced. The east side is the
large modern section, which is maintained nicely. The west side is the
large old section and is in horrible condition. Almost every stone is
in need of immediate restoration. Most tablets lay broken and face up
on the ground. Most stack stones have fallen or are leaning severely.
Large monoliths have been knocked over, possibly by vandals. Whole rows
of stones lay scattered on the ground. Work must be done to save this cemetery.

UPDATE: Work was done on the Stilesville Cemetery
on September 24, 2006 by the Mill Creek Junior Optimists and high school
Octagon Optimists clubs. Many fallen tablet stones at the south end
of the old section of the cemetery were cleaned and reset. The cemetery association
is excited about continuing restoration work in the spring.
