Directions:
Turn down the drive just north of the Fairview Cemetery entrance. Follow this drive until it starts to go up a hill to a barn. From here, walk northeast along the base of the hill, following the well-worn four-wheeler tracks. Follow the tracks over a small metal bridge that crosses a little creek and then up the hill to the north where the cemetery is. Gravestones can be seen from the base of the hill in the winter. The cemetery stretches mostly east-west along the ridge between the small creek (south) and the larger creek (north). Note: Be very careful when walking through this cemetery! There are many large holes and depressions.

Condition:
This cemetery is not fenced, mowed or maintained. It is essentially destroyed. Most stones are broken and fallen. Records show that this cemetery once contained approximately 30 burials, though there were probably more since this was North Salem's first cemetery. Some graves have been moved to Fairview Cemetery but there are no good records on which graves were moved and which remain and are just unmarked. At least 11 people on the list have stones at Fairview (though that does not guarantee they are interred there). Evidence of grave moving and vandalism are all over. There are huge depressions in places where graves would have been. Four-wheeler tracks run just feet from standing stones and are possibly going through part of the cemetery.
